If you have young kids and you have ever wished for a theme park built just for them, the wait is officially over.

The Grand Opening of Universal’s first theme park created just for kids is July 1, 2026. Tickets and packages are on sale now, which means we can start planning your perfect family getaway today.

Universal Destinations & Experiences designed this all-new destination right here in Frisco, Texas. It is a first-of-its-kind regional theme park built specifically for families with young children.

This place is going to be a game changer for parents who want big magic without overwhelming their little travelers.

Universal Kids Resort is home to seven amazing lands filled with kids’ favorite characters where kids are free to be their silly selves. Plus, there is a cozy, colorful hotel located just steps away from the park gates.

Every inch of the park has been intentionally designed through a child’s eyes. You will find low-set signage and interactive, sensory-friendly spaces where kids can just be themselves. The entire layout is colorful, imaginative, and approachable rather than overstimulating or chaotic.

    Explore the Seven Immersive Lands

The resort features distinct areas inspired by worlds your kids already adore. Here is what you can look forward to exploring with your family:

    Jurassic World Adventure Camp

This land is perfect for your dinosaur-obsessed kiddo.

Little explorers help search for the missing Ankylosaurus, Bumpy, on the Cretaceous Coaster. They can also spin with Mr. DNA or brave the Pteranodrop for a bird’s-eye view of the whole park. A climbable lookout tower, baby dino encounters, and a canteen full of kid-friendly meals round out this area.

    Welcome to Bikini Bottom

If your children yell “I’m ready!” like SpongeBob, you are in luck.

Hop onto the Jellyfish Fields Jamboree, take a bus tour of Bikini Bottom, or spin through Mrs. Puff’s Boating School. You can also cool off with sky-high sundaes at Goofy Goober’s. SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy will all be there for meet and greets.

    Shrek’s Swamp

This is a fairytale adventure that is silly, sweet, and very ogre-friendly.

Families will ride through the love story of Shrek and Fiona, snack on Shrekzels, and shop for swamp-approved treasures. Kids can also splash their way through two dedicated play zones. Character meet-and-greets with Shrek and Fiona will absolutely make your toddler’s day.

Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club

If your family thrives on playful chaos, this land will be a major highlight.

Think water battles, a lively boat cruise, a Minion-themed spin-out derby, and tons of mischievous surprises. You can grab snacks, pick your Minion team, and get ready to giggle your way through the mayhem.

    TrollsFest

This space is bright, bubbly, and full of music, just like the movies.

Kids will dance at King Trollex’s Techno Dance Party, hop aboard the armadillo bus ride, and soar through the sky on Hair in the Clouds. They can even get a Troll-ify Me! makeover and meet Poppy, Branch, and the whole Trolls crew.

    Puss in Boots Del Mar

This charming land celebrates courage, cuteness, and tiny heroes.

Families will glide high above Del Mar on Swings Over Del Mar, meet Puss in Boots, enjoy puppet shows, and pick up sweet treats in colorful play areas.

    The Isle of Curiosity

This is the heart of the park, and it is perfect for preschoolers.

Featuring Gabby’s Cat-Tastic Dance Party, a cupcake shop with rainbow treats, a beautiful café, and sensory gardens, this land sets the tone for the whole park. It is designed to be imaginative, colorful, and welcoming.

A Cozy, Colorful Hotel Just Steps Away

To make the trip completely seamless, you can stay at the onsite hotel. It is a cozy, colorful hotel located just steps away from the park gates, making midday naps or pool breaks incredibly simple to manage.

Rooms sleep 5 to 6 guests, making it ideal for families who usually struggle to fit comfortably in standard hotel accommodations. You can expect:

    • Bunk beds for the kids
    • Suites with separate bedrooms
    • A family-friendly quick-service restaurant
    • A resort pool and game room
    • A fully equipped fitness center

Why This Resort Matters for Families With Young Kids

Most theme parks are created for everyone. This means parents often feel like they are navigating a massive environment that isn’t quite sized for their littlest adventurers. Universal Kids Resort completely flips that script.

The resort offers a smaller scale, lower height requirements, and more sensory-friendly spaces. You will also enjoy shorter walkways and play-first experiences everywhere you turn.

If you have kids under 10, this is going to be the sweet spot where imagination feels real, and the fun is designed entirely around them.

Ready to Book Your Family Getaway?

The Grand Opening is July 1, 2026, and tickets and packages are on sale right now. Because this is one of the most anticipated family travel openings of the decade, the best room layouts and summer dates will fill up fast.

As a Certified Autism Travel Professional, I am incredibly excited to help families navigate the sensory-friendly perks of this brand-new park. If you are ready to book a low-stress vacation built entirely for your little ones, let’s connect today.
